OUTSIDE MAGAZINE: Byer’s Easy Traveller Is The ‘Best’

Easy Traveller, Blue-LWe’re No. 1! We’re No. 1! We’re No. 1!

(Sometimes, it’s nice to toot your own horn…)

Outside Magazine ranked the “5 Best Summer Hammocks” back in July, and we’re proud to say that our durable, lightweight and affordable Easy Traveller topped their charts. Not only was it at the top of the list, but the Easy Traveller’s little cousin — the Traveller Lite — earned one of two honorable mention nominations.

That’s a total of two of our lightweight camping hammocks among the seven hammocks rated on their list.

And we’re justifiably proud.

Here’s a sample of what was said about the Easy Traveller:

“The Easy Traveller is the hammock equivalent of a no-pressure first date. It’s also easy on the wallet… We liked that everything needed to use the Easy Traveller was included, and it all packed into a small sack that you can toss into a backpack.”

Simple: Get him everything he needs to enjoy a summer afternoon in the very backyard he just finished perfectly manicuring. It’s our Father’s Day Combo — a complete hammock setup, including hammock, stand and pillow.

MAILBAG: Answering 3 Burning Questions

mailbox_05You’re asking, and we’re answering.

Winter seems to have an interminable grip on the northeastern part of the United States, but that doesn’t mean that spring isn’t right around the corner. (I know, I know. The calendar suggests that spring is already here, having arrived on Thursday — though the thermometer and more than half a foot of snow that fell across Maine that morning suggest otherwise.)

Because we’re so close to warmer days and summer events, we’re seeing lots of you getting ready by getting your hands on new gear and giving some of what you already have a much-needed freshening up.

Naturally, we field lots of questions from people at this time of year. Here are three of the most common:

How do I hang my hammock?

This is not as difficult as the novice might think. If you’re using a hammock stand, the stand is already set with hanging points at the right height and distance. Continue reading

You Want More Than Style, Don’t You?

Amazonas Factory 03-MHere’s something you need to consider:

There is a difference between Brazilian hammocks and Brazilian-“style” hammocks.

The rise in the popularity of the Brazil hammock isn’t a surprise. Both the backyard and lightweight camping crowds have caught on to the impressive functionality of the hammocks — they are sturdier than more “traditional” spreader bar hammocks, making them more comfortable and providing healthier sleep, and they fold and pack easily for travel.

Not all of these “Brazilian” hammocks are truly from Brazil, however. Continue reading
